"A wetland center in London, parks in downtown San Francisco, a wildlife sanctuary in Arcata, and a wetlands park on the outskirts of Las Vegas--what do these urban and suburban locations have in common? They are leading examples of a new restoration design approach that is squarely placed at the interface of nature and culture. This multidisciplinary paradigm bridges the gap between an ecological approach preoccupied with returning damaged landscapes to an imagined original state and a landscape design approach concerned with creating a place for people to reinhabit. Environmental Restoration and Design for Recreation and Ecotourism is the first book to provide a detailed examination of the entire process of restoring damaged or abandoned landscapes to benefit both nature and people, specifically for the purposes of recreation and ecotourism. With a focus on history, planning, methodology, design, and construction, it explores five case studies of successful regenerative landscape design projects and gives readers an inside look at the evolution of design projects. Two of the cases offer a particularly comprehensive review of award-winning projects: the reparation of the degraded Las Vegas Wash into Clark County Wetlands Park and the transformation of the abandoned Barn Elms Reservoirs into the London Wetland Centre. Supported by extensive photographs, tables, maps, sketches, and schematics, these case studies trace how ideas are first conceived and then adopted, transformed, or even abandoned along the way. Each case study also includes a questions-and-answers discussion with designers and managers. Emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary cooperation, the book presents lessons learned from some of the most innovative projects in regenerative landscape design"--"

The reclamation of Benoa Bay, Bali, and Jakarta Bay has both created polemics and problems, both in terms of policy and implementation. But in fact, the reclamation of Jakarta Bay continues, while the reclamation of Benoa Bay has failed to be implemented. This happened because of different claims regarding the two reclamation projects: in the Jakarta Bay reclamation project, the government managed to convince the community that the project being implemented would have a positive impact, while in the Benoa Bay reclamation project it did not. This research will then discuss the reclamation phenomenon of Benoa Bay in Bali and Jakarta Bay, where there are differences in truth claims in the reclamation process related to Foucault's concept of episteme. This study also analyses the relationship and dynamics that occur between society, the state and corporations in the reclamation project with the perspective of Radical Criminology. This study uses a qualitative research approach using reclamation case studies in two places, namely reclamation in Jakarta Bay and reclamation in Benoa Bay, Bali. In-depth interviews with various sources directly involved with the reclamation project were conducted to uncover existing problems. This research, in the end, provides an enrichment view of Radical Criminology and Foucault's concept of episteme. Specifically related to episteme, the enrichment in this research is to construct the episteme concept put forward by Foucault by looking at the fragmentation of social, economic, and cultural values, in the reclamation that occurred in Benoa Bay and Jakarta Bay, resulting in a fragmented episteme concept."

"Scientists tend to take the thought processes that drive their research for granted, often learning them indirectly by observing first their supervisors and then their colleagues. This book emphasises the advantages of being explicit about these thought processes and aims to help those undertaking ecological research to develop a critical attitude to approaching a scientific problem and constructing a procedure for assessment. The outcome is a text which provides a framework for understanding methodological issues and which assists with the effective definition and planning of research. As such it represents a unique resource for anyone embarking on their research career. It also provides a valuable source of information for those more experienced researchers who are seeking to strengthen the methodology underlying their studies or who have an interest in the analysis of research methods in ecology."

"Tidal marsh restoration provides the scientific foundation and practical guidance necessary for coastal zone stewards to initiate salt marsh tidal restoration programs. The book compiles, synthesizes, and interprets the current state of knowledge on the science and practice of salt marsh restoration, bringing together leaders across a range of disciplines in the sciences (hydrology, soils, vegetation, zoology), engineering (hydraulics, modeling), and public policy, with coastal managers who offer an abundance of practical insight and guidance on the development of programs."

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses the forms of damage that occurred collection of old photographs.
One of way to repair damaged old photographs collection is by using digital photo restoration techniques. This research is an experimental research using one shot case study design. The result of this study describe many forms of damage that commonly occurs in old photographs collection, step-by-step implementation of digital photo restoration techniques which can be done, the results of digital photo restoration, and obstacles encountered in the application of digital photo restoration techniques.
