"In this book, we survey the most recent and state-of-the-art work about a whole new generation of recommender systems built to serve social tagging systems. The book is divided into self-contained chapters covering the background material on social tagging systems and recommender systems to the more advanced techniques like the ones based on tensor factorization and graph-based models."

"This book emerged out of international conferences organized as part of the AAAI Fall Symposia series, and the Swarmfest 2017 conference. It brings together researchers from diverse fields studying these complex systems using CAS and agent-based modeling tools and techniques. In the past, the knowledge gained in each domain has largely remained exclusive to that domain. By bringing together scholars who study these phenomena, the book takes knowledge from one domain to provide insight into others.
Most interesting phenomena in natural and social systems include constant transitions and oscillations among their various phases – wars, companies, societies, markets, and humans rarely stay in a stable, predictable state for long. Randomness, power laws, and human behavior ensure that the future is both unknown and challenging. How do events unfold? When do they take hold? Why do some initial events cause an avalanche while others do not? What characterizes these events? What are the thresholds that differentiate a sea change from a non-event?
Complex adaptive systems (CAS) have proven to be a powerful tool for exploring these and other related phenomena. The authors characterize a general CAS model as having a large number of self-similar agents that: 1) utilize one or more levels of feedback; 2) exhibit emergent properties and self-organization; and 3) produce non-linear dynamic behavior. Advances in modeling and computing technology have led not only to a deeper understanding of complex systems in many areas, but they have also raised the possibility that similar fundamental principles may be at work across these systems, even though the underlying principles may manifest themselves differently."

The Kessler 10-item questionnaire (K10), The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), dan Student Adjustment to College Questionairre (SACQ) digunakan untuk mengukur distres psikologis, perceived social support, dan penyesuaian akademis.

Pursuing a higher education becomes increasingly popular however, entering university comes with its own academic challenges which can be a source of psychological distress that can potentially hinder students academic adjustment. This study aims to examine the role of perceived social support in moderating the relationship between psychological distress and academic adjustment. The respondents of this study are 414 first-year college students between the ages of 18 to 22 year old. To examine the moderating role of perceived social support, Hayes' PROCESS was used. The Kessler-10 Item Questionnaire (K10), The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and Student Adjustment to College Questionnaire (SACQ) were used to measure psychological distress, perceived social support, and academic adjustment respectively. The results of this study show that psychological distress has a significant correlation with academic adjustment. Moreover, overall perceived social support does not moderate the relationship between the two variables. Conversely, perceived friends support is found to moderate the relationship between psychological distress and academic adjustment however, the same result was not found for perceived family and significant others support. The results imply that building peer network in university holds a significant role in first-year students' academic adjustment."

The social system is instrumental in the changes that occur in acommunity, such as the diffusion process of an innovation. The social system distinguishes one group from another in the process of diffusion of innovation, as happened in one of the disability groups, Kartunet Community. This study examines the social system of the theKartunet Community and it is role in the diffusion of innovation in the utilization of Information and Communication Technology ICT. Thisresearch is conducted by in depth interview method to two informants chosen purposively.
The results showed that the Chairman of the Community is the opinion leader as well as innovators. As a group of persons with disabilities, the Kartunet Community is very open. Innovation of ICT utilization is very interesting for PwDs, especially to overcome obstacles, meet the needs, and encourage self reliance. They tend to be more receptive and eager to adopt innovation because of the influence of opinion leaders and peers. In addition, one of the indicators that play a role in encouraging the diffusion of ICT utilization innovations in the Kartunet Community is the innovation created as a policy for their members, but there is freedom formembers to decide for them selves innovation adoption decisions.
