"In the history of generative grammar, the question of the semantics of compounds was caught up in what Newmeyer (1986) called the "Linguistic Wars", the conflict between generative semantics and interpretive semantics. An important difference between the two sides was the place they attributed to semantics in the architecture of grammar. In generative semantics, the semantic representation was the starting point for syntactic processing. The syntactic level of Deep Structure had been merged with the underlying semantic representation. In interpretive semantics, the semantic representation was derived from a syntactic representation by means of interpretation rules."

"The authors present a methodology for formally describing security protocols and their environment. This methodology includes a model for describing protocols, their execution model, and the intruder model. The models are extended with a number of well-defined security properties, which capture the notions of correct protocols, and secrecy of data. The methodology can be used to prove that protocols satisfy these properties. Based on the model they have developed a tool set called Scyther that can automatically find attacks on security protocols or prove their correctness. In case studies they show the application of the methodology as well as the effectiveness of the analysis tool."

"Skripsi ini membahas kajian semantik-leksikal kosakata kuliner bahasa Arab pada majalah مطبخ قودي /maṫbakh qūdī/. Analisis yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Analisis ini dilakukan dengan toeri pembentukan kata dari segi semantik dan relasi makna. Data dalam skripsi ini diambil dari majalah مطبخ قودي edisi 2014. Hasil analisis dari teori pembentukan dari segi semantik kata menyatakan bahwa kosakata kuliner bahasa Arab dibentuk dari proses neologisme, metafora, dan pinjam terjemah. Dari teori relasi makna, kosakata kuliner bahasa Arab memiliki relasi makna keidentikan yang mencakup relasi makna homonimi, polisemi, dan sinonimi; relasi makna peliputan yang mencakup relasi hiponimi dan meronimi; dan relasi makna pertentangan yang mencakup relasi antonimi.

This thesis discusses the lexical semantic study of arabic vocabularies about culinary in Goody Kitchen Magazine. The analysis that used in this thesis is qualitative method with a descriptive-analyzed. The analisys is done by Arabic word-formation theories and semantic relation theories. The data in this thesis are taken from Goody Kitchen Magazine 2014 edition. The result of this research from word-formation in semantic term states that Arabic culinary vocabularies are formed from neologism, methapor, and borrowing translation process. From the semantic relation theory states that Arabic culinary vocabularies have identical semantic relation, including homnymy, polysemy, and synonymy relation; coverage semantic relation, including hyponymy and part-whole relation; and opposite semantic relation, only including antonymy relation."

"Headline dan gambar memiliki peran penting dalam pembuatan sebuah iklan. Melaui headline dan gambar pembaca dapat mengetahui pesan yang ingin disampaikan sebuah iklan. Dalam skripsi ini, saya menganalisis sembilan iklan pemenang Plakatvoting tahun 2014. Penelitian ini berfokus pada makna referensial dan makna afektif pada headline, jenis dan bentuk headline, dan hubungan semantis antara headline dengan gambar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk & jenis, makna referensial dan afektif, juga hubungan semantis antara headline dengan gambar ditujukan untuk menambah nilai positif produk. Headline dan gambar pada sembilan iklan ini memiliki hubungan yang sangat erat karena bersifat saling melengkapi.

Headlines and pictures play an important role in the making of an advertisement. Readers will know the message behind the advertisement, through headlines and pictures. In this thesis, I analyze nine winner advertisements of Plakatvoting in 2014. The analyses focus on referential and affective meaning in headlines, types and forms of headlines, and semantic relations between headlines and pictures. The analyses showed that forms and types, referential and affective meaning, and semantic relations between headlines and pictures were used to add positive values of the products. Furthermore, there is a strong connection between the headlines and the pictures in these nine advertisements because each of them complements one another. advertisement, headline, picture, semantic.
