"ABSTRAK
Streaming internet telah berkembang menjadi hambatan yang besar untuk televisi kabel dalam mendapatkan kesuksesan yang lebih di Amerika Serikat. Terlepas dari segalanya, hak kekayaan intelektual memainkan peran penting dalam isu tersebut. Maka, maksud dari tulisan ini adalah untuk menginvestigasi korelasi antara televisi kabel dan streaming internet dari perspektif hak kekayaan intelektual di Amerika Serikat. Tulisan ini memakai tinjauan pustaka untuk membantu tulisan ini meraih tujuannya. Kesimpulannya, streaming internet memberikan dampak yang sangat besar untuk televisi kabel dalam segi konsumer, perkembangan, dan popularitas di Amerika Serikat. Hak kekayaan intelektual di Amerika Serikat mempunyai otoritas untuk memberikan hak dan untuk itu, melindungi pemilik hak, yang masih memiliki beberapa kelemahan untuk siapa hak itu dimiliki. Ini menandakan bahwa hak kekayaan intelektual mengenai industry televisi, terutama hak cipta, di Amerika Serikat perlu untuk lebih spesifik dalam regulasinya dan menyesuaikan isinya agar lebih pas untuk situasi yang berbeda.

ABSTRACT
Internet streaming has turned into a major obstacle for cable television to reach a greater success in the United States. In spite of all that, intellectual property rights play a key role in the issue. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation of cable television and internet streaming from a perspective of intellectual property rights in the United States. This study uses literature review to help achieve the purpose of this study. In conclusion, internet streaming made a huge impact on cable television in terms of consumers, growth, and popularity in the United States. The intellectual property rights in the United States have the authority to give rights and thus, protect the right owners, which still has some weaknesses on whom do the rights belong to. This indicates that the intellectual property rights regarding the television industry, especially the copyright, in the United States have to be more specific on the regulation and adjust the content to be more fitting to the different situation. "

"The Business of television media industry was rising back after hit by the monetary crisis few years ago. The local autonomy which was put into effect by the government at almost the same time, and the issue of new regulation ?Article No. 32/2002?, regarding "Broadcast", push a head the growth of the new local TV Stations and will affect the map of TV Media lndustry in Indonesia in the future.
Pay Television (Pay TV), regardless the distribution way of broadcasting relay, e.g.: Kabelvision (distributed through ?Cable") and lndovision (distributed through ?Satellite? ), slowly but sure have started making some new breakthroughs by creating new marketing strategies to gain more customers. Free-to-Air TV is not the competitor of Pay TV, and they could become a mutual partner each other.
This research is aimed to analyze the business opportunity of Pay TV and Free-to-Air TV in Indonesia. The big opportunity was predicted to Free-to-Air TV and Pay TV if it were seen through the point of view from the big number of population, the number of potential households and the wide geographic area. But especially for Pay TV, the realization is quite difhcult as there are some elements involved in reaching the succeed possibility, like internal- and external environment, which make the result is not the same with the expectation. In this research, the factor which influenced the most to the business opportunity is the income level and education level (value worth 0.4745) and then followed by the capital, infrastructure and technology."
