"The southern coast of the North Sea is mainly protected by a single line of defence against flooding. The traditional means for heightening and strengthening the existing coastal barriers are limited due to the increased enormous resource costs, i.e. building materials, funding and space. On the other hand, further interests and needs such as tourism, nature conservation and agriculture demand an integrated planning process according to the principle of a sustainable coastal development. The spatial protection concepts discussed in the book provide new options for sustainable coastal development in line with the integration of several types of land use. Furthermore, the multifunctional coastal protection zones offer new opportunities for the application of different options for coastal protection, i.e. holding the line, accommodation or retreat. This book also provides a sound basis for an integrated planning process in coastal zones combining participatory methods with adapted --tools from socio-economic and ecologic evaluation"

"ABSTRAKArmed conflicts create drastic socioeconomic shocks that lead to land use and land cover changes in ways that are not yet well understood. Several studies have used satellite imagery to detect such changes during periods of conflict. However, there has been an insufficient examination of older conflicts before the 1970s. By examining older conflicts, we can examine the effects of conflict on land use and land cover over a long time span. This study reveals land use and land cover changes during the Second Indochina War (1960-75) and the wars immediate and long-term effects on land use and land cover by combining an analysis of aerial and satellite photographs with fieldwork. This study concludes that the war created an abnormal situation in which a large number of people from a different ethnic group came to live amongst the original inhabitants of the research site. This led to a unique farming landscape and vast areas of forest destruction. The study also reveals that forest destruction during the war was a significant milestone in the history of the vegetation of the research site, and the vegetative landscape has still not recovered to its prewar condition. These findings, as well as the results of previous research, suggest that we need to be more conscious of the effects of war on forest degradation in Laos."

"Pertumbuhan permintaan akses mobile broadband merupakan peluang besar sekaligus tantangan bagi pelaku bisnis telekomunikasi di Indonesia. Teknologi Long Term Evolution (LTE) hadir untuk menjawab permintaan tersebut. Implementasi LTE sebagai teknologi wireless broadband akan sangat menarik, khususnya di kota Depok dengan luas wilayah 200,29 Km2 dan penduduk sekitar 1,7 juta jiwa pada tahun 2010. Laporan tugas akhir ini membahas perencanaan tekno ekonomi implementasi LTE release 8, bandwidth 20 MHz dan skema antena MIMO 2x2. Perencanaan hanya dibatasi untuk wilayah Depok saja berdasarkan data sekunder dari beberapa operator dan instansi pemerintah sebagai data pendukung. Perencanaan teknologi dimulai dari data sekunder dibagi 2 segmen pelanggan potensial LTE, potensial pelanggan optimis dan pesimis. Tugas akhir ini menggunakan parameter jangkauan dan kapasitas sel untuk teknologi LTE. Pada frekuensi 1900 MHz pada parameter jangkauan, 6 sel untuk downlink dan 122 sel untuk uplink, sedangkan frekuensi 2300 MHz dengan jangkauan, 7 sel untuk downlink dan 173 sel untuk uplink, dengan parameter kapasitas diperoleh 449 sel (skenario optimis) dan 117 sel (skenario pesimis) pada tahun 2020 Perencanaan ekonomi dimulai dengan menghitung CAPEX dan OPEX, untuk mendapatkan revenue. Selanjutnya dicari nilai NPV dan PBP berdasarkan revenue tahun per tahun, untuk menunjukan kelayakan dari investasi Teknologi LTE tersebut.

Growth in demand for mobile broadband access is a big opportunity and challenge to the telecommunications business in Indonesia. Technology Long Term Evolution (LTE) is present to answer the demand. Implementation of LTE as a broadband wireless technology will be very interesting, especially in Depok city with an area of 200.29 km2 and a population of about 1.7 million people in 2010. This final report discusses the techno economic planning implementation of LTE Release 8, with spesific bandwidth 20 MHz and 2x2 MIMO antenna schemes. Planning is only limited to the Depok city just based on secondary data from several operators and government agencies as supporting data. Technology planning starts from the secondary data is divided into 2 segments LTE potential customers, potential customers optimistic and pessimistic.

This final report uses cell coverage and capacity parameters for LTE technology. For cell coverage at frequency 1900 MHz, 6 cells are needed for downlink and 122 cells for uplink, while at frequency 2300 MHz, 7 cells and 173 cells are needed respectively. For capacity parameter, 449 cells are required for optimistic scenario and 117 cells for pessimistic scenario in year 2020. Economic planning begins by calculating CAPEX and OPEX, to get revenue. Subsequently calculated NPV and PBP year per year based on revenue, to show the feasibility of the LTE technology investments."
