"Tesis ini membahas tentang studi ekonomi politik komunikasi pada struktur industri Over The Top Video Streaming yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan Walt Disney. Disney sebagai korporasi media lama harus melakukan proses reorganisasi dan restrukturisasi yang dalam studi ekonomi politik disebut sebagai proses spasialisasi. Proses spasialisasi merupakan respon atas perkembangan internet yang memunculkan struktur industri baru dalam industri media dan distribusi aliran komunikasi. Lebih jauh, riset ini akan melihat bagaimana perilaku spasialisasi Disney mempengaruhi penetrasi modal khususnya Indonesia sebagai pasar utama berkaitan dengan konsumsi konten media. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian eksplanatif berbasis studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Disney secara sistematis menerapkan strategi reorganisasi dalam bentuk pembelian aset produksi dan perusahaan teknologi sebagai basis produksi untuk struktur industri OTT. Disney membentuk Disney+ sebagai produk utama SVOD pasca proses reorganisasi selesai. Disney juga meletakkan proxy di wilayah Asia melalui Star India sebagai basis dari operasional dan penetrasi produk Disney+ di wilayah Asia. Secara aktif Disney melakukan penetrasi modal ke Indonesia melalui kerjasama dengan agensi negara, memanfaatkan kekosongan regulasi serta melakukan investasi dalam hal produksi konten.

This research focuses on the political economy of communication study in the Over The Top industry by Walt Disney Corporation Company. As an old media institution, Disney should reorganize and restructure its corporate structures, which in the political economy of communication study is called spatialization. Spatialization responded to the internet growth and created a new industrial structure in the media industry and information communication flow. Furthermore, this research will look at how the spatialization process by Disney influences capital penetration, especially in Indonesia as a leading market in content media consumption. This is qualitative research with an explanatory model based on a document study. This research showed that Disney did a systematic reorganization strategy by acquiring production assets and technology companies as a production base for the Over The Top industry. After reorganizing, Disney produced an OTT program called Disney+ as an SVOD main product. Disney put a proxy company in Asia from Star India corporation as an operational and capital penetration base in the Asian region. Disney did an active process about capital penetration to Indonesia with cooperation with the state agency and direct investment in local production and found advantage from the loophole on OTT regulation."

"Degrowth merupakan sebuah konsep ekonomi-politik-lingkungan yang mengadvokasikan penurunan aktivitas ekonomi secara menyeluruh—utamanya aktivitas produksi dan konsumsi masif—pada taraf global. Degrowth menggarisbawahi bagaimana ketimpangan struktur ekonomi politik internasional antara negara-negara Utara dengan negara-negara Selatan membawa implikasi bagi perlunya negara-negara Utara untuk menurunkan aktivitas ekonominya. Praktis, sebagai konsekuensinya, laju pertumbuhan ekonomi negara-negara Utara diekspektasikan akan turut menurun. Kendati demikian, pembahasan mengenai degrowth masih dibilang cukup minim dalam dimensi diskursus ekonomi politik internasional. Berangkat dari hal tersebut, penulis berupaya untuk mendudukkan pembahasan mengenai degrowth dalam konteks diskursus ekonomi politik internasional dengan menelaah perkembangan literatur akademik degrowth melalui metode komparatif-historis. Melalui penelusuran dan kemudian pengumpulan 18 literatur akademik mengenai degrowth oleh penulis, perkembangan literatur degrowth dapat dibagi menjadi tiga babak: 1) kemunculan awal diskursus degrowth, 2) diskursus degrowth dalam pusaran Krisis Finansial Global, dan 3) diskursus degrowth di era kontemporer. Setelah menguraikan dan memetakan masing-masing literatur tersebut sesuai dengan temanya, penulis kemudian menganalisis substansi sekaligus persebarannya dengan mengidentifikasi konsensus dan perdebatan, merumuskan temuan-temuan reflektif, serta menyusun sintesis. Berdasarkan tinjauan literatur yang telah dilakukan, tulisan ini melihat bagaimana sejumlah peristiwa internasional sepanjang tahun 2000-an hingga 2010-an telah mendongkrak popularitas degrowth dalam diskursus ekonomi politik internasional. Namun, uraian yang konkret pada taraf operasionalisasi dalam kajian ekonomi politik internasional sayangnya masih cukup minim ditemukan. Dengan minimnya pembahasan sekaligus maraknya pelibatan aspek lingkungan dan kesejahteraan sosial sebagai bagian penting dari perumusan kebijakan pada saat ini, penulis berkesimpulan bahwa degrowth dapat berpotensi untuk menjadi salah satu subjek bahasan yang signifikan dalam diskursus ekonomi politik internasional di masa mendatang.

Degrowth is a concept encompassing economy, politics, and environment which advocates reductions in economic activity generally, and massive production and consumption more specifically, on the global level. Degrowth emphasizes that the imbalances in the international political economy structure between the Global North and the Global South have brought the need for the Global North to reduce their economic activity As a consequence, the economic growth of Global North countries will also decline. However, the international political economy discourse is yet to develop a comprehensive discussion on degrowth Departing from this, the author tries to put the discussion on degrowth in the context of international political economy discourse by examining the development of degrowth academic literature using a historical-comparative method. Through the investigation of eighteen (18) academic literatures focusing on degrowth, this paper divides the discussions of degrowth into three phases: firstly, the early emergence of degrowth discourse; secondly, degrowth discourse amidst the Global Financial Crisis; and thirdly, degrowth discourse in the contemporary context. This paper will first describe and structure each of these literatures according to the aforementioned phases. Thus, it will analyze their substances, as well as their distributions, by identifying the following consensus and debates. This paper will then formulate reflective findings, and compile a synthesis. Based on the literature review, this paper argues that a number of international events throughout the 2000s to 2010s have boosted the popularity of degrowth in international political economy discourse. However, concrete degrowth operationalization proposals in the international political economy study are still minimum. With the discussion, or lack thereof, and the current widespread involvement of environmental and social welfare aspects as important parts of policy formulation, this paper concludes that degrowth holds the potential to be a significant subject in the discourse of the international political economy in the future."
