"In the last two decades, Indonesia has witnessed a surplus growth in the young and educated labor force. A significant proportion of educated people tend to move to other regions in search of jobs. Data from the 1995 Intercensal Population Survey (SUPAS) clearly documented this phenomenon and that many people who migrated belong to younger age groups. The improvements in socioeconomic development across various regions have exerted a tremendous impact on the flow of people as well as gonads across the regional and ethics boundaries within Indonesia. This paper mainly focuses on the region-to-region migration in Indonesia and the influence of major determinants specifically education and employment. For the analysis, logistic regression models are confined to explain the differentials in migration by selected explanatory variables. "

This study aims to examine whether migration undertaken by individuals during childhood can be considered an effective channel for human capital investment, particularly in the context of education, as reflected in intergenerational educational mobility. Using longitudinal data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) for the years 2000, 2007, and 2014 with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method, the results show that children who migrated had intergenerational educational mobility 0.5 years lower compared to children who did not migrate. The study also controls for other factors that affect intergenerational educational mobility, such as household size, father's education, educational expenditure, and region of residence in 2014. These results are influenced by migration motives, as the majority of the sample migrated for reasons other than education and predominantly to rural areas. Additionally, previous research indicates that internal factors of the child, such as difficulty adapting to the destination, also affect migration outcomes."
