The expansion and occupation of Japanese colonial government to Indonesian territory in 1942-1945, especially Java island in order to get moral and material support for facing the Asia Pacific War, could not be separated from the role of Javanese Muslim society at that time. The distinctive characters of Javanese Muslim society growing up in Pesantren-based environment become the basis for the Japanese government in doing their propaganda. Through an analysis of propaganda techniques on Pandji Poestaka magazine articles in the period of 1942 and 1943 as well as Asia Raya newspaper articles in the period of 1944 and 1945, it is found that the technique of Transfer, Glittering generalities, and Bandwagon are dominantly used than the other propaganda techniques. This relates to the Javanese Muslim society as the outcomes of Pesantren educational system that are likely own characters of following scholars and high-spirited when it comes to the independence and the rise of Islam."
