"Tesis ini membahas upaya reduksi cognitive dissonance yang dilakukan oleh konsumen produk barang dan jasa berteknologi tinggi, serta kecenderungan perbedaan implikasinya pada pencarian infonnasi. Penelitian ini adala.h peneHtian kuatitatif dengan desain deskriptif dan metode analisis komparatif. Konsumen produk barang berteknologi tinggi yang mengalami cognitive dissonance cenderung melakukan upaya reduksi yang fokus kepada fitur yaitu ke1ebihan produk pilihan atau kekurangan produk altematif sebagai upa.ya untuk meyakinkan dirinya telah membuat keputusan benar dengan implikasi pencarian infonnasi selective attelltioll. Konsumen produk jasa berteknologi tinggi cenderung melakukan upaya reduksi cognitive dissonance yang berbentuk toleransi tcrhadap kondisi atau situasi tidak nyaman yang dialaniinya dengan implikasi pencarian infonnasi selective comprehension. Hasil penelitian menyarankan agar perusahaan produk berteknologi tinggi untuk secara aktif memberikan informasi positifbagi para konsumennya.
This. thesis discusses the process of cognitive dissonance reduction that the consumers of high technology goods and services initiate and also examines its implication on the information search, This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive design that uses a comparative analysis method. The result of the research is that the high technology goods product consumers tend to do reduction effort that focuses to the product features which are the advantage of the chosen product or the disadvantage of the a1temative product to reassure the decision that has been made with selective attention as its information search impiication. The high technology service product consumers tend to do reduction effort in form of tolerance of the uncomfortable situation that they experience with selective comprehension as the infonnation search implication. The result of the research suggests that high technology goods and services companies to actively give positive infonnation to their consumers."
