"ABSTRACTArsitektur vernakular merupakan arsitektur lokal yang terbentuk dari proses budaya dan tradisi dari suatu daerah. Keberadaan arsitektur vernakular di daerah urban menjadi perhatian penulis untuk menjadi bahan penelitian skripsi ini karena kemajemukan budaya yang berada di daerah urban tentu memengaruhi nilai-nilai dari arsitektur vernakular. Kemajemukan budaya di daerah urban membuat adanya implikasi budaya sehingga terjadinya penggabungan budaya urban dengan nilai-nilai vernakular yang dimiliki oleh suatu komunitas. Dalam penelitian skripsi ini, tinjauan arsitektur vernakular yang berada di daerah urban dilakukan terhadap rumah tempat tinggal yang berasal dari sebuah keluarga yang melakukan pemindahan rumah dari Gemolong ke Ciracas, Jakarta Timur. Pemilik rumah merupakan orang Jawa yang menganut budaya dari Gemolong sehingga memiliki nilai-nilai budaya dan tradisi yang dibawa kepada rumahnya. Dalam studi kasus ini arstitektur vernakular ditinjau dengan pendekatan secara arsitektural serta menggali nilai vernakular melalui nilai abstrak dan fisik yang dimiliki oleh rumah tempat tinggal keluarga dari Gemolong.

ABSTRACTVernacular architecture is a local architecture formed from cultural processes and traditions of an area. The existence of vernacular architecture in urban areas become an attention to the authors to be the subject of this thesis research because of the cultural diversity that is in the urban area would affect the values of vernacular architecture. The cultural pluralism in urban areas makes cultural implications so that the incorporation of urban culture with the vernacular values possessed by a community. In this thesis research, a review of vernacular architecture located in the urban area is done to the residential house that comes from a family who do the displacement of the house from Gemolong to Ciracas, East Jakarta. Homeowners are Javanese who embrace the culture of Gemolong so have cultural values and traditions brought to his home. In this case study the vernacular architecture is reviewed in an architectural approach and explores vernacular value through the abstract and physical value of the family home of Gemolong."

"Kondisi ekonomi tertentu telah memicu orang-orang di kampung kota untuk melakukan inovasi pada huniannya hingga tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat untuk bertinggal, tetapi juga sebagai tempat mencari nafkah. Pada skripsi ini rumah usaha merujuk pada hunian warga di Kampung Luar Batang 9, Jakarta Utara, yang mengalami penambahan fungsi sebagai tempat melakukan usaha skala kecil. Keberadaan rumah usaha dipicu, dipertahankan, dan kembali mempertahankan informalitas kampung kota. Rumah usaha merupakan bentuk adaptasi manusia untuk hidup dalam permukiman informal. Kajian rumah usaha untuk hadir dan bertahan ditinjau melalui terjadinya negosiasi-negosiasi oleh aktor ekonomi dalam ethical action. Dampak dari aksi ini ditelusuri dengan teori people as infrastructure yang mengaitkan aktor ke jaringan manusia yang semakin luas. Terpicunya keberadaan rumah usaha juga dikaitkan dengan konfigurasi spasial permukiman yang menentukan strategic value kawasan tersebut. Sebagai kelanjutannya, strategic value terhubung dengan persebaran rumah usaha melalui adanya multiplier effect hingga fenomena ini mempertahankan jaringan ekonomi informal masyarakat. Melalui kajian-kajian tersebut saya menemukan bahwa informalitas kampung kota merupakan hal yang menjadi pemicu keberadaan rumah usaha, untuk kemudian pada keberlangsungannya rumah usaha kembali mempertahankan informalitas kampung kota.

Certain economic conditions have prompted people in kampung kota to innovate their houses so that they are not only functioned as a place to dwell, but also a place to do income earning activities. Rumah usaha is a term I use in refering to those residence of Kampung Luar Batang 9, North Jakarta, which have additional function as a place to do small-scale enterprises. The existence of rumah usaha are triggered, sustained, and maintain urban kampung informality. Rumah usaha represents human adaptation in living on the informal settlement. The study about the existence and survival of rumah usaha are reviewed through the negotiations done by economic actors in running their ethical action. The impact of the actions is traced with the theory of people as infrastructure that relate the actors to wider human network. The existence of rumah usaha are also related to spatial configuration of the settlement that determines the strategic value of the area. As it goes the strategic value affects the spread of rumah usaha by multiplier effect, so that this phenomenon sustain the informal economy networks of the residents. Through these analysis I found that the informality of urban kampung has triggered the existence of rumah usaha, then by the on going process rumah usaha reciprocally sustain the urban kampung informality."

"ABSTRAKThe quality of housing constitutes the physical condition of housing as well as the perception and actions of the occupants. Assessment of housing quality tends to be based on the physical indicators of the housing environment with less attention to the occupants? understanding of housing quality. This study explores the housing quality from the point of view of the occupants especially in relation to the concept of ?healthy housing?. A structured interview wasconducted with a number of occupants living in high-density urban housing in order to reveal their understanding of the?healthy housing? concept. The study found the existence of a gap between the occupant?s perception of the healthyhousing quality and the factual physical condition of their housing. The occupants tend to evaluate their housing as having good quality, despite the facts found from the observation that some physical requirements of ?healthy housing? have not been satisfied yet in most houses. This understanding of ?healthy housing? is primarily related to the aspect ofcleanliness, while other aspects of healthiness do not seem to get enough attention. These findings become the basis ofthe discussion on the extent to which the perspective of the occupants should be incorporated in developing programmes for urban housing quality improvement. "
