"Tren teknologi sistem komunikasi nirkabel saat ini adalah menuju multi layanan atau multi standar, termasuk sistem gelombang radio (RF) yang di dalamnya terdapat perangkat mixer sebagai pentranslasi frekuensi. Namun dalam implementasinya membutuhkan lebih banyak komponen, karena setiap perangkatnya membutuhkan lebih banyak divais. Maka diperlukan perancangan sistem RF yang setiap divaisnya dapat melayani lebih dari 1 pita frekuensi. Sehingga dapat mengurangi jumlah komponen.
Tesis ini membahas perancangan rangkaian up-conversion dual-band mixer untuk sistem pemancar RF pada perangkat CPE Mobile WiMAX pada pita frekuensi 2,3 GHz dan 2,6 GHz menggunakan heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT). Inti mixer yang digunakan adalah jenis double-balanced Gilbert-cell.
Pada proses perancangan dual-band mixer ini, digunakan rangkaian dual resonating frequency yang berfungsi untuk menghasilkan resonansi pada 2 frekuensi yang berbeda secara simultan pada input dan output mixer. Digunakan juga rangkaian -lowpass sebagai input dan output matching.
Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa dual-band mixer ini dapat bekerja pada 2 pita frekuensi, 2,3GHz dan 2,6GHz, dengan up-conversion gain sebesar 6,222/5,231 dB dan isolasi LO-IF, LO-RF, dan IF-RF sebesar <-70 dB, gain compression sebesar ?72,192/?79,300 dBm untuk input power level dan ?61,297/?68,428 dBm untuk output power level, sedangkan untuk OIP3, IIP3, dan IM3 masing-masing sebesar ?7,670/?8,407 dBm, ?13,892/?13,638 dBm, dan ?138,257/?140,103 dBm, serta memiliki nilai VSWR dan return loss masing-masing sebesar 1,230/1,229 dan ...
