Applicative constructions is a means to change non-core arguments into core arguments in sentences by involving verbs. The change in question is an oblique change (non-nuclear arguments) into an object (nuclear arguments). However, several studies on applicative constructions show that not all oblique categories can turn into objects. This study uses the applicative constructions theory of Peterson (2007) and Trask (1993) also applies qualitative research methods. The questions in this study are (1) which obliques can be turned into objects in the applicative construction of Sundanese? (2) What are the types of applicative constructions of Sundanese?. The results showed that there are three categories that can turn into objects in applicative constructions, namely objective oblique, locative oblique, and instrumental oblique. In addition, there are four types of applicative constructions in Sundanese, namely benefactive applicative constructions, malefactive applicative, locative applicative, and instrumental applicative."

"This book is an introduction to syntactic theory and analysis which can be used for both introductory and advanced courses in theoretical syntax. Offering an alternative to the standard generative view of the subject, it deals with the major issues in syntax with which all theories are concerned. It presents syntactic phenomena from a wide range of languages and introduces students to the major typological issues that syntactic theories must address. A generous number of exercises is included, which provide practice with the concepts introduced in the text and in addition expose the student to in-depth analysis of data from many languages. Each chapter contains suggestions for further reading which encompass work from many theoretical perspectives."

"This volume brings together the latest research on the semantics of nouns in both familiar and less well-documented languages, including English, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, the Papuan language Koromu, the Dravidian language Solega, and Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara from Australia. Chapters offer systematic and detailed analyses of scores of individual nouns across a range of conceptual domains, including 'people', 'places', and 'living things', with each analysis fully grounded in a unified methodological framework. They not only cover central theoretical issues specific to the analysis of the domain in question, but also empirically investigate the different types of meaning relations that hold between nouns, such as meronymy, hyponymy, taxonomy, and antonymy."

In German novels there are many pragmatic studies, namely about the meaning contained in a speech or text, one of which is deixis. Deixis is a thing or function that points to something outside the language. The author examines the comparison of the appearance of person deixis, place and time in two German novels. This study aims to describe the differences in the appearance of deixis in Die Blauen und Grauen Tage and Die Verwandlung novels and analyze the role of deixis in building stories in both novels. This research is a qualitative descriptive study on the Die Blauen und Grauen Tage novel by Monika Feth in 1996 and Die Verwandlung by Franz Kafka published in 1915.
The results showed that the differences in deixis occurrence in both Die Verwandlung and Die Blauen und Grauen Tage novels had different roles. Personal deixis is the most common deixis, then place deixis and the least is time deixis. Personal deixis appears most because in both texts there are many dialogues. Deixis generally plays a role in making it easier for readers to understand the text.

Lieber, Rochelle, 1954-
"Morphology and lexical semantics explores the meanings ofmorphemes and how they combine to form the meanings of complex words, including derived words (writer, unionize), compounds (dog bed, truck driver), and words formed by conversion. Rochelle Lieber discusses the lexical semantics of word formation in a systematic way, allowing the reader to explore the nature of affixal polysemy, the reasons why there are multiple affixes with the same function, and the issues of mismatch between formand meaning in word formation. Using a series of case studies fromEnglish, this book develops and justifies the theoretical apparatus necessary for raising and answering many questions about the semantics of word formation. Distinguishing between a lexical semantic skeleton that is featural and hierarchically organized, and a lexical semantic body that is holistic, it shows how the semantics of word formation has a paradigmatic character.
