ABSTRACTCurrent global trends indicate an increase in female labor participation. Although in Al Quran Islam suggests that women spend more time at home, but Islam itself basically does not prohibit Muslim women to work. For a religious Muslim woman, she chooses not to work and if she chooses to work, she chooses entrepreneurship instead of being an employee to enable her to balance her obligations in the family. This study aims to determine whether the religiosity of Islam influence the decision of a Muslim woman to work and to choose self employment. With a sample of 6637 Muslim women from IFLS data and probit models, researchers found that the religiosity of Islam significantly influenced the decision of Muslim women to work where more religious Muslim women tended not to work and if they worked they would choose to become entrepreneur. In addition, there were differences in factors influencing the decision of Muslim women in entrepreneurship in cities and villages. The existence of the influence of religiosity on the decision of Muslim women self employment open the opportunity to increase the participation of Muslim women workers and require support policies that facilitate Muslim women entrepreneurship such as access to capital through a financing program."

"Women Judges in the Muslim World: A Comparative Study of Discourse and Practice fills a gap in academic scholarship by examining public debates and judicial practices surrounding the performance of women as judges in eight Muslim-majority countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Morocco). Gender, class, and ethnic biases are inscribed in laws, particularly in the domain of sharia-derived family law. Editors Nadia Sonneveld and Monika Lindbekk have carefully woven together the extensive fieldwork and expertise of each author. The result is a rich tapestry that brings out the various effects of women judges in the management of justice. In contrast to early scholarship, they convincingly prove that the woman judge does not exist. "

Lazarus, Neil, 1953-
"The Postcolonial Unconscious is a major attempt to reconstruct the whole field of postcolonial studies. In this magisterial and, at times, polemical study, Neil Lazarus argues that the key critical concepts that form the very foundation of the field need to be re-assessed and questioned. Drawing on a vast range of literary sources, Lazarus investigates works and authors from Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and the Arab world, South, Southeast and East Asia, to reconsider them from a postcolonial perspective. Alongside this, he offers bold new readings of some of the most influential figures in the field: Fredric Jameson, Edward Said and Frantz Fanon. A tour de force of postcolonial studies, this book will set the agenda for the future, probing how the field has come to develop in the directions it has and why and how it can grow further."
