Untuk mengisi ruang kosong dari penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya, penelitian ini menggunakan perspektif postkolonial dalam menganalisis representasi stereotip komunitas Arab-Amerika serta perbedaan perlakuan terhadap mereka yang dipengaruhi oleh unsur ras dan gender. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori cultural representation oleh Stuart Hall dan teori intersectionality oleh Kimberly Crenshaw untuk mengkaji dialog, kiasan, dan aspek visual dalam film. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengetahui apakah upaya film Amreeka untuk mengedepankan keragamaan dari komunitas Arab-Amerika berhasil serta bagaimana gender dan ras saling berpengaruh dalam menciptakan perbedaan perlakuan terhadap karakter-karakter Arab-Amerika di film Amreeka. Hasil pengamatan terhadap perkembangan karakter dan alur cerita menunjukan bahwa Amreeka berhasil dalam memberikan representasi keragaman di komunitas Arab-Amerika dan juga hubungan ras dan gender dalam menciptakan perbedaan perlakuan di komunitas tersebut.

Centering on the narrative of the Palestinian American, Amreeka (2009) is an American indie movie that has been examined through gender and psychological perspective. In order to fill in the gap of previous works, this paper uses the postcolonial perspective in analyzing the representation of stereotyping as well as race and gender othering in the movie. Stuart Hall‟s framework of cultural representation and Kimberly Crenshaw's theory of intersectionality will be used to examine the movie‟s dialogue, allusion, and visual aspect. This paper intends to find out whether or not the movie‟s attempts to highlight the diversity of Arab Americans successful as well as how gender and race intersect in creating the feeling of „otherness‟ towards the characters."

"Kerajaan Arab Saudi mempunyai sejarah yang panjang dalam menerapkan hukum Islam sebagai acuan pada kebijakan-kebijakan negara. Modernisasi yang terjadi di Arab Saudi tentunya bersinggungan dengan Wahabisme yang diterapkan sebagai ideologi utama di Kerajaan Arab Saudi. Penelitian ini membahas tentang modernisasi di Arab Saudi yang digagas oleh Muhammad bin Salman dalam Visi 2030. Metode penelitian yang penulis gunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif analisis dan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data kepustakaan. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori fungsional struktural yang digagas oleh Talcott Parsons dengan pendekatan decision making process dan teori modernisasi oleh Inglehart dan Welzel. Hasil dalam penelitian ini adalah masa kepemimpinan Raja Salman dan Kerajaan Arab Saudi yang menerapkan Visi 2030 sebagai bentuk modernisasi oleh Muhammad bin Salman. Terdapat perubahan yang signifikan dalam pemerintahan Arab Saudi dari masa ke masa. Masyarakat yang dulu dikenal konservatif dapat dengan cepat menerapkan reformasi ekonomi dan sosial yang mulai mengarah pada sistem liberal. Hal tersebut dikarenakan kuatnya kekuasaan yang dipimpin oleh raja dan terjaminnya kesejahteraan negara.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a long history of applying Islamic law as a reference for state policies. The modernization that has taken place in Saudi Arabia is of course intersect with Wahabism which is applied as the main ideology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This study discusses modernization in Saudi Arabia which was initiated by Muhammad bin Salman in Vision 2030. The research method that the author uses is a qualitative research method with a descriptive analysis approach and uses library data collection techniques. The theory used is the structural functional theory initiated by Talcott Parsons with a decision making process approach and modernization theory by Inglehart and Welzel. The results in this study are the reign of King Salman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who implemented Vision 2030 as a form of modernization by Muhammad bin Salman. There have been significant changes in the government of Saudi Arabia from time to time. Societies that were once known to be conservative were able to quickly implement the economic and social reforms that began to lead to a liberal system. This is due to the strong power led by the king and the guarantee of state welfare."
