"Kelima novel sejarah Indonesia yang dipilih sebagai objek penelitian ini memperlihatkan keragaman konvensi, bentuk, dan warna. Ada yang menggunakan tokoh-tokoh sejarah sebagai tokoh utama, dan tokoh fi ktif sebagai pelengkap, ada yang sebaliknya menggunakan tokoh sejarah sebagai tokoh bawahan, ada yang sebagian besar tokohnya adalah tokoh sejarah. Katrologi Bumi Manusia memperlihatkan warna realis yang kuat dan bentuk yang rumit; begitu pula Arok Dedes yang ideologis. Subang Zamrud Nurhayati memperlihatkan erotisme dan alur yang sederhana, sementara Roro Mendut menekankan masalah psikologis, dan Perlawanan Rakyat Sigi yang pendek berwarna heroik, memang tepat untuk anakanak. Dua dari keempat pengarang novel sejarah yang dibahas sudah tiada, dua yang lain berusia lanjut. Mereka semua memperoleh pendidikan yang relatif baik, khususnya dalam hal sejarah. Keempatnya sangat prihatin terhadap keadaan bangsa dan negaranya, dan sebagian besar telah secara aktif mendukung mereka yang tertindas.

The fi ve Indonesian historical novels being the object of this research, reveal the western convention of the genre in a variety of forms and colours. Pramoedya?s and Mansur Samin?s use both ?real? historical person as heroes and secondary character, while the others present imaginative characters as heros and historical persons as background. Pram?s Bumi Manusia, consisting of four books, shows the most complicated form and tends to be realistic in its narration. Arok Dedes, as complicated as the fi rst, is an ideological one. While Roro Mendut, in a very loose plot preoccupies with the psychological problem of the principal characters, and Subang Zamrud Nurhayati is erotic. The thinnest of the fi ve, Perlawanan Rakyat Sigi is heroic. About the writers: two of them are dead, the rest is above sixty years old. The interview shows that they love history and have received good education, especially in history stuff. They are preoccupied by the poor condition of the Indonesian people and the nation, and most of them supported actively the struggle of the oppressed."

"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini membahas deskripsi mengenai salah satu nilai yang dijunjung tinggi diJepang yang bernama omoiyari. Nilai omoiyari menjadi landasan bagi orangJepang dalam bertindak. Omoiyari diperlukan untuk membentuk manusia yangmatang secara moral. Menurut teori omoiyari yang dikemukakan oleh TakieSugiyama Lebra, nilai omoiyari memiliki lima bentuk yang wujudnya dapatdilihat dalam novel berjudul Madogiwa no Totto-chan. Dari hasil analisis dapatdiketahui bahwa omoiyari tercermin menjadi empat tingkah laku sepertimemelihara konsensus, mengoptimalkan kenyamanan, bersifat timbal balik, danmerasa bersalah.

ABSTRACTThis thesis discusses the description of one of the values upheld in Japan namedomoiyari. Omoiyari value becomes the basis for the Japanese people in the waythey act. Omoiyari is required to establish a morally mature human. According tothe theory of omoiyari by Takie Sugiyama Lebra, omoiyari value has five formsthat can be seen in the Madogiwa no Totto-chan novel. From the analysis, it canbe seen that omoiyari reflected in four behaviors such as maintaining consensus,optimizing comfort, reciprocal, and feel guilty"

"Karya sastra merupakan produk yang dapat mencerminkan kehidupan masyarakat. Salah satu isu sosialnya adalah mengenai wanita. Citra wanita dapat tergambar dari alur kehidupannya, oleh karenanya jika alur kehidupannya berbeda tentu akan menimbulkan karakter yang berbeda pula. Penggambaran citra wanita methakil merupakan sosok wanita yang tidak seperti wanita Jawa pada umumnya. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas dua, yaitu 1. Bagaimana penggambaran citra wanita methakil dalam novel Wanita Methakil, dan 2. Bagaimana relevansi dan implikasi bagi wanita masa kini. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu memberikan gambaran mengenai citra wanita methakil dan memberikan suatu pendidikan karakter pada wanita masa kini. Deskriptif kualitatif di gunakan sebagai metode penelitian dengan pendekatan objektif sebagai cara untuk menganalisis citra di dalam novel. Hasil dari penelitian ini terdiri dari: 1. Citra wanita methakil terbagi atas karakter kurangnya kontrol diri dan bertanggung jawab, dan 2. Implikasi didapatkan melalui pendidikan karakter yang tergambar dalam citra wanita di Serat Candrarini sebagai pembelajaran bagi wanita masa kini agar tidak mengarah pada karakter wanita methakil yang buruk. Didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa citra wanita methakil adalah contoh karakter yang buruk sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai batasan dalam berperilaku khususnya bagi wanita.

Literary works are products that can reflect the life of society. One of the social issues is about women. The image of a woman can be depicted from the flow of her life; therefore, if the flow of life is different, it will certainly lead to different characters. The depiction of Methakil's female image is of a female figure who is not like Javanese women in general. The problems in this study consist of two: 1. How is the depiction of the image of methakil women in the novel Wanita Methakil, and 2. what are the relevance and implications for women today? The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the image of methakil women and provide character education for women today. Descriptive qualitative is used as a research method with an objective approach as a way to analyze the image in the novel. The results of this study consist of: 1. The image of a methakil woman is divided into characters with lack of self-control and responsibility; and 2. The implication is obtained through character education depicted in the image of women in Serat Candrarini as a lesson for women today so as not to lead to the bad character of methakil women. It is concluded that the image of a methakil woman is an example of a bad character, so that it can be used as a limitation in behavior, especially for women."
