In Jakarta, kampungs exist from the community that dwells. Kampung Marlina, situated on Jakarta's coast, confronts a long-term threat of coastal flooding infrastructures. While guarding the waterfront settlement areas, the infrastructure implementation also plots over the kampung's spatial expansion. Following the condition, locals incorporate formality and informality into their daily routines. The unique socio-economic elements of its fisherfolks and coastal flooding recurrences unfold as Kampung Marlina's localities. A set of analyses regarding time, space, and users allows the identification of specific spatial production of Kampung Marlina. Here, spatial production necessitates appropriating readily available anti-flooding technologies and exchanging them for other use-values to meet the community's daily needs."

Increased aquaculture activity on the north coast of Java significantly decreases the ecological function of mangroves as natural protectors of the coastal from high tides and sea-level rise, therefore causing coastal vulnerability to tidal flooding and repeated inundation. The objectives of this study were: (1). assessment of the physical coastal characteristic and social vulnerability of fishing communities to Rob flooding, (2). create a vulnerability zoning map, and (3). build a coastal resilience model. This study uses the coastal vulnerability index (CVI) and the social vulnerability index (SoVi) methods. The results showed that 22.13 percent and 24.56 percent of the coastline in the study area had high and very high CVI values, respectively. In addition, the SoVI value of +1.76 also indicates a high social vulnerability to Rob floods. Based on the analysis of the vulnerability value, this study proposes a strategic model of mangrove planting with silvofishery (Komplangan) with a width of 100 m along the coast of Indramayu District for sustainable coastal resilience. The model simulation results show that this strategy can significantly reduce vulnerability and increase pond income. This research contributes to the concepts of 'vulnerability' and 'resilient', by highlighting local adaptive capacities. The findings provide input for policymakers to relevant mitigation and adaptation support to activate the adaptive capacity of fishing communities."

Risks of flooding harm many aspects of human life. Floods are being included as catastrophe, disaster that happens because of nature. But, nowadays, floods happened not only because natural phenomenon but also because of cities development and cities growth. Architecture and its realm became one of many fields in science which is so related with flooding process. When the development and the growth of cities occurred continuously and inevitably, architecture and its realm should be designed as good as possible by concern about city characteristics where the design will be applied. So architecture and its realm rather than make flood hazard worsen, can be used even to minimize the impact of floods.

"The Barmah river red gum forest is part of a larger tract of such forest along the Murray River. It is known that river flooding provides an important source of water for the sustenance of these forests. The contribution of Murray tributaries to the flooding was examined. The main stem of the river above lake Hume was the single most important source. Removal of this would lead to a 55% decrease in forest flooding. Removal of either the Ovens or the Mitta Mitta would lead to a 30% reduction, while removal of Kiewa river would lead to reduced 15% of flooding. No particular tributary can be regarded as a source of extreme forest floods since all tributaries more or less act in concert. A backwater influence of high water levels at the down-stream confluence of the Goulburn and Murray River leads to high water level in Barmah. However, because of the short-lived nature of such high water levels it is unlikely that such floods penetrate very far into the forest.
