"Penelitian ini berusaha mengungkap makna lirik lagu Smerti Bolʹše Net karya IC3PEAK yang ingin disampaikan pengarang baik secara terisrat maupun tersurat, dan bagaimana lirik lagu ini dapat menginterpretasikan situasi kehidupan warga Rusia dan tanggapan mereka kepada kebijakan hak kebebasan berekpresi di Rusia pada masa karya lirik lagu Smerti Bolʹše Net karya IC3PEAK tercipta. Dengan menggunakan metode interpretif, sumber data utama yang berupa teks lirik lagu Smerti Bolʹše Net karya IC3PEAK akan dianalisa secara bertahap. Sumber data yang telah diterjemahkan, kemudian dianalisa dengan teori pemaknaan semiotika Michael Riffaterre yang meliputi tahapan pembacaan heuristik, pembacaan hermeneutik, ketidaklangsungan makna, matriks, model, dan varian-varian, dan hipogram. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa lirik lagu protes Smerti Bolʹše Net karya IC3PEAK menginterpretasikan makna kritik atas hak kebebasan berekspresi dan berpendapat yang dirasa pengarang sebagai warga negara terbatasi oleh kebijakan-kebijakan pada pemerintahan rezim Vladimir Putin sekitar tahun 2018-an hingga 2022-an.

This research seeks to reveal the meaning of the lyrics of the song Smerti Bolʹše Net by IC3PEAK which the author wants to convey either implicitly or explicitly, and how the lyrics of this song can interpret the life situation of Russian citizens and their response to the policy of the right to freedom of expression in Russia during the time of the song created. By using the interpretive method, the main data source, which is the text of the song Smerti Bolʹše Net by IC3PEAK, will be analyzed in stages. Sources of data that have been translated, then analyzed with Michael Riffaterre's theory of semiotic which includes the stages of heuristic reading, hermeneutic reading, indirectness of meaning, matrices, models, and variants, and hypograms. The results of the analysis show that the lyrics of the protest song Smerti Bolʹše Net by IC3PEAK interpret the meaning of criticism of the right to freedom of expression and opinion which the author feels as a citizen is limited by the policies of the government of Vladimir Putin's regime around the 2018s to 2022s."
