"This book is for policymakers, lawyers, doctors, mental health professionals, hospice workers, and for anyone who has thought about suicide or has lost someone to suicide. Based on surveys and interviews of more than 300 suicide attempt survivors, doctors, lawyers, and mental health professionals, it painstakingly exposes the irrationality of current policies and laws about suicide, including assisted suicide. The author suggests specific reforms, including increased protection of mental health professionals from liability, increased protection of suicidal people from coercive interventions, reframing medical involvement in assisted suicide, encouraging universities to stop forcing suicidal students to leave, and focusing on approaches to suicidal people that have helped them rather than assuming suicidality is always a symptom of an underlying mental illness. The book includes a comparison of our own policies with those of countries in Europe, Asia, and Central America, and covers the 2015 legalization of assisted suicide in Canada. The book includes a model statute, seven in-depth studies of people whose cases presented profound ethical, legal, and policy dilemmas, and more than a thousand cases interpreting rights and responsibilities relating to suicide, especially in the area of psychiatric malpractice."

The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal dan the Scale for the Assessment of Narrative Review Articles (SANRA) digunakan dalam penilaian kualitas artikel.

Mental health professionals play a fundamental role in assisting courts in guardianship cases. An assessing psychiatrist's ability is needed who can carry out examinations according to the requested role, namely presenting objective evidence for legal purposes. Becausse of there is no uniform teaching modules in preparing general psychiatrists to meet the demand for mental capacity assessments in guardianship cases, leads this study seeks to gain a scientific basis for developing standardized procedures for psychiatrists. Journal or article searches were conducted using the Oxford Journal, Springer Link, EBSCO Host, ProQuest, PubMed, and Cochrane Library electronic databases. This literature study uses the PICO framework format with inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria to obtain articles that are in accordance with the research topic. In addition, a manual search for references and relevant journals was also carried out (hand searching). The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal and the Scale for the Assessment of Narrative Review Articles (SANRA) were used in the article quality assessment. The number of articles obtained based on the feasibility test against the inclusion and exclusion criteria was 14 articles. It was found that the assessment carried out includes the perspective of the individual who will be proposed to undergo a guardianship as well as an assessment of the family who will become the guardian. This systematic review contains matters that should be a concern for assessing psychiatrists regarding the stages and important factors that must be considered for the assessment of mental capacity in the case of guardianship as well as the instruments that support objective assessment in the case of guardianship. The application of the principles of mental capacity assessment in guardianship cases is expected to assist in the preparation of objective and accurate medical service procedures in mental health care facilities."

"Juvenile justice centers have a long tradition as an unfortunate stop for young offenders who need mental health care. Reports estimate that as many as 70% of the youth in detention centers meet criteria for mental health disorders. As juvenile justice systems once again turn their focus from confinement to rehabilitation, mental health providers have major opportunities to inform and improve both practice and policy. The Handbook of Juvenile Forensic Psychology and Psychiatry explores these opportunities by emphasizing a developmental perspective, multifaceted assessment, and evidence-based practice in working with juvenile offenders. This comprehensive volume provides insights at virtually every intersection of mental health practice and juvenile justice, covering areas as wide-ranging as special populations, sentencing issues, educational and pharmacological interventions, family involvement, ethical issues, staff training concerns, and emerging challenges. Together, its chapters contain guidelines not only for changing the culture of detention but also preventing detention facilities from being the venue of choice in placing troubled youth.Key issues addressed in the Handbook include: Developmental risks for delinquency. Race and sex disparities in juvenile justice processing. Establishing standards of practice in juvenile forensic mental health assessment. Serving dually diagnosed youth in the juvenile justice system. PTSD among court-involved youth. Female juvenile offenders. Juvenile sex offenders."
