"Makalah ini membahas isu-isu gender dalam film karya Clint Eastwood berjudul Million Dollar Baby yang berkisah tentang Maggie Fitzgerald, seorang petinju perempuan dari kalanganan menengah ke bawah. Ketika Maggie memasuki dunia olahraga, ia didominasi dan mengalami diskriminasi oleh pria karena alasan gender. Pembentukan sistematis gender yang membedakan dunia pria dan wanita menyebabkan ketimpangan gender. Sejak dahulu terdapat stereotip yang mengatakan bahwa olahraga identik dengan pria. Namun, beberapa feminis percaya bahwa stereotip tersebut harus diubah. Feminis berpikir bahwa perempuan juga memiliki hak untuk berpartisipasi dalam setiap jenis olahraga termasuk olahraga ekstrim seperti tinju, angkat besi, atau sepak bola, yang biasanya dilakukan oleh pria. Saat ini, jumlah partisipasi wanita dalam dunia olahraga terus meningkat. Sebagai sebuah film tentang partisipasi wanita dalam dunia olahraga, Million Dollar Baby menampilkan semua tokoh perempuan secara negatif dan tidak ideal bagi wanita dalam kehidupan nyata. Makalah ini menyimpulkan bahwa meskipun dunia olahraga telah menjadi lebih terbuka bagi wanita, dominasi pria masih tetap dirasakan.

This paper examines gender issues in a film directed by Clint Eastwood entitled Million Dollar Baby which revolves around the story of Maggie Fitzgerald, a poor female boxer. When participating in sports, she was dominated and discriminated by men due to her gender. The construction of gender which systematically differentiates the world of men and women leads to gender inequity. Since long ago, stereotypically, sport is considered as men’s domain. However, some feminists believe that kind of stereotype should be changed. They think that women also have rights to be involved and to participate in any kind of sport including the extreme ones such as boxing, weightlifting, or football, which usually are practiced by men. Nowadays, the number of women’s participation in sports has been increasing. As a film about women’s participation in sports, Million Dollar Baby does not portray all of the women characters’ in a positive way. All of the women characters in the film represent unappealing life options for women in real life. The paper concludes that even though sport has become more available to women, the domination of men still cannot be erased."

"Penelitian ini membahas mengenai tersiratnya nilai mono no aware dalam serial drama First Love Hatsukoi (selanjutnya disebut FLH) yang merupakan karya adaptasi dari lagu First Love dan Hatsukoi karya Utada Hikaru. Serial drama tersebut mirip dengan beberapa film bergenre drama romantis yang dirilis di akhir dekade 2000-an, yang memiliki elemen-elemen nostalgia seperti kisah cinta pertama di masa remaja, latar tempat yang merupakan daerah non urban sebagai tempat tinggal para tokohnya di masa muda, dan terdapatnya suatu penyakit kronis yang diderita oleh tokohnya. Elemen-elemen nostalgia tersebut menyiratkan pengejawantahan perasaan terhadap objek atau subjek tertentu yang dapat dirasakan dengan panca indera, yaitu nilai mono no aware. Elemen-elemen nostalgia tersebut juga terdapat di dalam FLH, melalui keterlibatan intertekstual-kontekstual dengan dua lagu Utada Hikaru yang merupakan karya sumbernya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bermaksud untuk memaparkan bagaimana aspek penting dari proses adaptasi atau alih wahana objek penelitian, yaitu keterlibatan intertekstual-kontekstual dalam FLH dengan lagu First Love dan Hatsukoi dapat memunculkan nilai mono no aware yang tersirat. Terdapatnya mono no aware yang tersirat disebabkan oleh keterlibatan intertekstual-kontekstual tersebut melalui elemen-elemen nostalgia yang mirip dengan film drama romantis pada akhir dekade 2000-an, yang juga bersifat familiar bagi penonton khalayak umum. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori adaptasi Linda Hutcheon (2006). Kemudian, data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan metode analisis konsep alih wahana dengan cara menganalisis bagaimana saja unsur-unsur sinematografi dalam medium atau wahana serial drama FLH. Data-data sinematografis dari FLH berikutnya penulis bandingkan dengan bait-bait dari lirik lagu Hatsukoi dan First Love, sehingga dapat menjelaskan bagaimana unsur-unsur tersebut menyiratkan nilai mono no aware. Inti yang penulis dapatkan setelah membuat penelitian ini adalah bahwa setelah karya sastra lagu Hatsukoi dan First Love dibuatkan karya adaptasinya melalui FLH, terdapat nilai mono no aware dalam adegan-adegan FLH sebagai hasil dari adaptasi yang melibatkan intertekstual-kontekstual antara FLH dengan kedua lagu tersebut.

This research discusses the implied value of mono no aware in the drama series First Love Hatsukoi (hereinafter referred to as FLH), which is an adaptation work based on the songs First Love and Hatsukoi by Utada Hikaru. The drama series shares similarities with several romantic drama films released in the late 2000s, featuring nostalgic elements such as first love stories during adolescence, non-urban settings as the characters' hometowns in their youth, and the presence of a chronic illness affecting the characters. These nostalgic elements imply embodiment of feelings towards a specific object or subject that can be experienced through all the human’s five senses, which is the definition of mono no aware. These nostalgic elements are also present in FLH through intertextual-contextual engagement with the two songs by Utada Hikaru, which serve as the source material. Therefore, this research aims to illustrate how the important aspect of the adaptation or transmedia process, namely the intertextual-contextual involvement in FLH with the songs First Love and Hatsukoi, can evoke the implied value of mono no aware. The presence of implied mono no aware is caused by the intertextual-contextual involvement through nostalgic elements resembling those found in romantic drama films of the late 2000s, which are also familiar to the general audience. The theory employed is Linda Hutcheon's Theory of Adaptation (2006), and the collected data is analyzed using the method of transmedia concept analysis by examining how the cinematographic elements in the medium of the FLH drama series are compared with the lyrics of Hatsukoi and First Love. This analysis aims to explain how these elements imply the value of mono no aware. The main conclusion drawn from this research is that after the literary works of the songs Hatsukoi and First Love were adapted through FLH, there is a value of mono no aware present in the scenes of FLH as a result of the adaptation that involves intertextual-contextual elements between FLH and the two songs."

"Dalam skripsi ini diteliti dua dialog antara dua tokoh, yakni seorang ayah dan anaknya dalam edisi tertulis serial drama radio_Papa, Charly hat gesagt..._. Dialog yang saya pilih sebagai data adalah _Hausarbeit ist keine Arbeit_ dan _Charlys Tante_. Kedua dialog tersebut berisi percakapan antara kedua tokoh tersebut, yakni berkaitan dengan tema peran perempuan dalam masyarakat. Tema tersebut hingga sekarang masih aktual sehingga menarik untuk diteliti. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui berhasil atau tidaknya komunikasi antara tokoh ayah dan anak dalam kedua cerita tersebut dan jenis perlokusi yang dihasilkan. Selain itu, untuk mengetahui hal-hal yang ingin disampaikan penulis dalam kedua cerita tersebut. Setelah diadakan penelitian, ternyata sebagian besar, yakni 80% komunikasi antara ayah dan anak tersebut tidak berhasil. Dari semua ketidakberhasilan komunikasi tersebut sekitar 54% disebabkan oleh perbedaan pendapat antara ayah dan anak. Selain itu, ketidakberhasilan komunikasi disebabkan salah satu pihak tidak mengerti maksud pihak yang lain, serta ada pihak yang tidak mendapat kesempatan untuk berbicara. Melalui kedua cerita tersebut penulis bermaksud untuk menyampaikan kritik dan pendapatnya mengenai tema masing-masing cerita, dan untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut ketidakberhasilan pada sebagian besar komunikasi memang harus terjadi.

In this thesis I analyze dialogues between a father and his son in a written edition of a radio play series titled _Papa, Charly hat gesagt__. Two dialogues that I chose as data are _Hausarbeit ist keine Arbeit_ and _Charlys Tante_. Both dialogues are between a father and his son. Their dialogues are about men and women equality. The theme is still actual nowadays and that_s why it_s interesting to analyze. The purpose of this final research is to know if the communication between father and son in the stories is successful and which kind of perlocutions are produced. Furthermore, the aim of this research is to find out ideas that the author wants to deliver through both dialogues. After the analysis has been done, it turns out that most of communications (80%) between the both characters are not successful. About 54% of those unsuccessful communications are caused by opinions differences. Besides that, the unsuccessful communications happen when one of the characters doesn_t understand what the other implies and when one of them doesn_t get the chance to speak his mind. Meanwhile, with those dialogues the author intends to criticize and state his opinion on the men and women equality theme. To achieve this purpose, unsuccessful communications can_t be avoided."
