"Memasuki awal masa perkuliahan adalah fase baru dimana seseorang harus bisa beradaptasi dengan lingkungan baru. Mahasiswa baru dihadapkan dengan situasi harus bisa membuat hubungan pertemanan yang baru sekaligus menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungan baru. Situasi seperti ini sering kali menimbulkan rasa takut tidak dapat diterima di lingkungan baru oleh mahasiswa baru. Hal ini menyebabkan proses keintiman mahasiswa baru satu dengan yang lainnya tidak dapat berlangsung dengan cepat. Namun, banyak hal juga yang dapat mempengaruhi proses keintiman dan saling keterbukaan pada mahasiswa baru ini. Dalam penelitian ini, kami mencoba melihat faktor atau aspek apa saja yang akan mempengaruhi proses tingkat keintiman pada mahasiswa baru Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Indonesia (FISIP UI) angkatan 2010. Penelitian ini juga akan melihat faktor apa yang paling dominan berperan dalam mempengaruhi tingkat keintiman antara mahasiswa baru tersebut.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan penarikan sampling non-probabilita quota sampling. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode survey kepada sample mahasiswa FISIP UI angkatan 2010. Pada penelitian ini proses tingkat keintiman para mahasiswa baru ini dipengaruhi oleh asal daerah, lingkungan tempat tinggal, latar belakang status ekonomi, hobi, dan ikut atau tidaknya keikutsertaan mahasiswa baru ini pada kegiatan orientasi yang diadakan (ospek). Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa keempat faktor ini memiliki pengaruh dalam tingkat keintiman mahasiswa baru. Temuan penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang menjadi dominan tingkat keintiman mahasiswa baru adalah adanya kesamaan hobi diantara mahasiswa FISIP UI angkatan 2010.

Entering the beginning of the lecture is a new phase in which a person must be able to adapt to new environments. New students are faced with a situation that should be able to make a new friendship at the same time adjusting to the new environment. Situations like this often creates fear that can not be accepted in the new environment by new students. This process makes the intimate of a new student with another can not take place quickly. However, many things can also affect the process of intimacy and mutual openness to new students. This research, we tried to see some factors or aspects that will affect the level of intimacy in the new students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Indonesia (UI FISIP) class of 2010. The research also will see at what factors are the most dominant influencing the intimate level between those new students.

This research used quantitative method with the withdrawal of non-probability s quota sampling. The process in collecting datas was conducted by survey of students FISIP UI 2010. In this study research, the intimate level of those new students are affected by region of origin, neighborhood, economic status, hobbies, and participation of orientation. This research showed that all four of factors have influenced the intimate level of those new student in college. This research also found the dominat factor the intimate level of them, that is similiarity hobbies between the member of UI generation FISIP 2010."

"Proses belajar mengajar di kelas internasional dilaksanakan melalui komunikasi dan dituntut pula memiliki keterampilan berbahasa asing, yaitu bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana hubungan antara komunikasi interpersonal dan kompetensi berbahasa Inggris terhadap kinerja siswa kelas internasional di SMA negeri eks-RSBI Provinsi DKI Jakarta. Penelitian ini berangkat dari paradigma positivistik berciri hypotetico deductive dengan pendekatan kuantitatif yang ini termasuk dalam penelitian eksplanatif. Berdasarkan manfaat, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian terapan secara cross sectional dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa survei dengan tipe mail and self-administered questionnaries. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas internasional SMA negeri eks-RSBI di Provinsi DKI Jakarta. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan desain sampel probabilita dengan metode multistage sampling. Sementara itu, metode pengukuran yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis faktor dengan pengukuran validitas melalui nilai MSA dan pengukuran reliabilitas melalui nilai Alpha Cronbach, sedangkan metode analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis regresi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini menujukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara komunikasi interpersonal dengan kompetensi berbahasa inggris, terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara komunikasi interpersonal dengan kinerja siswa, terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kompetensi berbahasa Inggris dengan kinerja siswa, dan terdapat hubungan antara komunikasi interpersonal dan kompetensi berbahasa Inggris terhadap kinerja siswa kelas internasional. Dengan demikian, beberapa faktor yang memengaruhi kinerja siswa kelas internasional adalah komunikasi interpersonal (antarteman) dan penguasaan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar di kelas internasional.

Learning and teaching activity in international program is conducted through communication and therefore it is required to have foreign language competence, mainly English. The research aims at discovering how is the relation between interpersonal communication and English Language Proficiency toward the student's performance in international program in ex-RSBI-Senior High School. This research is conducted based on the positivistic paradigm with hypotetico deductive, employs quantitative approach which belongs to the explanative research.

Regarding the purpose of the research, this research can be categorized as cross sectional applied research by employing survey with mail and self administered questionnaries as the collecting data method. The research population is the student of international program in ex-RSBI-Senior High School in Jakarta Province. To generate the sample, the research employs probalility sample design with multistage sampling method. In addition, the research employs the factor analysis as the measurement method with MSA value to ensure the validity and Alpha Cronbach value to ensure the reliability. Lastly, the regresion analysis is used as the analysis method.

In accordance with the purpose of the research, this research discovers the significant relation between interpersonal communication and english language proficiency, significant relation between interpersonal communication and student's performance, significant relation between english language proficiency and the student's performance, and significant relation between interpersonal commuication and english language proficiency toward the student's performance. In conclusion, several factors which influence the student's performance in international program are interpersonal communication and english as the introduction language in international program."
