"ABSTRAKPenerjemahan teks dari buku How to Deal with Parents who Are Angry, Troubled, Afraid, or Just Plain Crazy bertujuan untuk mencari padanan bidang psikologi pendidikan. Terjemahan beranotasi dilakukan dengan dua cara, yakni menerjemahkan dan memberi anotasi?menjelaskan padanan yang dipilih penerjemah sebagai jalan keluar dari masalah penerjemahan dan pertangungjawaban atas pilihan kata tersebut. Berdasarkan masalah yang timbul dalam penerjemahan, masalah dikelompokkan ke dalam lima bagian, yakni istilah, metafora, nama diri, idiom, dan peribahasa. Penerapan metode dan prosedur penerjemahan bermanfaat untuk memecahkan masalah dan mendapatkan pemadanan yang berlaku. Dari penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa dengan mengikuti langkah-langkah yang tepat dalam penerjemahan, memilih metode yang sesuai, dan menerapkan prosedur tersebut, penerjemah ini dapat memecahkan masalah penerjemahan, termasuk penerjemahan teknis. Metode komunikatif dan semantis diterapkan agar menghasilkan terjemahan yang baik, wajar, dan tepat.

ABSTRAK

The translation of How to Deal with Parents who Are Crazy, Troubled, Afraid, or Just Plain Crazy is aimed at finding the equivalent for the terminology of Educational Psychology. This annotated translation is carried out in two ways, namely by doing translation and giving annotation?explaining the equivalent words chosen as the solution of translation and taking responsibility for the choice. The problems are classified into five categories: terms, metaphors, proper names, idioms, and proverbs. The implementation of the translation methods and procedures are used to solve those problems and find the equivalent words in the target language. It is concluded that following the proper steps, choosing the right method and procedure, and using applicable rules, this translator can solve problems related to translation, including technical translation. Communicative and semantic methods are applied in order to produce a good translation."

Survei, wawancara, penelusuranpustaka, dan pemanfaatan media internet ditempuh guna menghasilkan terjemahanyang lazim dalam budaya BSa. Dari penelitian ini, saya menyimpulkan bahwapemilihan metode, prosedur, dan langkah penerjemahan yang tepat dapatmemecahkan masalah penerjemahan. Selain itu, faktor kelaziman juga harusdipertimbangkan agar terjemahan berterima di dalam budaya BSa.

ABSTRACTThe objective of this annotated translation is to give justification of theequivalences choosen in translating the book Just Tell Me What to Say. Theproblems found in the translation are divided into five categories namelydevelopment psychology terms, proper names, common nouns, idioms, andmetaphors. Translation method used in this translation is communicative methodwhich makes the transferred message is acceptable in TL culture and easilycomprehended by the target readers. "Terjemahan beranotasi ini hertujuan untuk memberikan pertanggungjawahan alas padanan tertentu yang dipilih olch penerjemah dalam menyelesaikan herbagai masalah penerjemahan. Teks yang ditcrjemahkan adalah novel. Pada umumnya, novel dimaksudkan untuk mcnghibur Para pemhacanya. Untuk memenuhi kritetia tersebut, dalam menerjemahkan novel Possession saga memilih menggunakan metode penerjemahan berdasarkan makna. Untuk mengatasi masalah perbedaan budaya dan kaidah, saya menyesuaikannya dengan budaya dan norma yang berlaku dalam masyarakat penutur BSa, dan kaidah yang berlaku dalam BSa. Berhubung TSu menceritakan kejadian pada tahun 1950-an, terdapat merek barang, nama bintang filem dan lagu yang saat ini sudah tidak dikenal lagi sehingga perlu dianotasi. Di samping itu, masalah ambiguitas bagi saya juga merupakan masalah tersendiri dalam mengalihkannya. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan prosedur yang tepat dapat meningkatkan kualitas penerjemahan, sedangkan pemilihan teknik, strategi, dan kiat yang cocok dapat membantu penerjemah mengatasi masalah penerjemahan.

This annotated translation represents the translator's accountability for the choice equivalents in order to solve various translation problems. A novel, Possession. is used as the source text of this annotated translation. Generally, novels are intended to entertain the readers. 'Therefore, in translating this novel I decide to use meaning based translation method. Problems encountered With regard to cultural and grammatical system differences are dealt with by adapting them to the norms prevailing in the community of the target language and the grammatical system of the target language. As the source text tells about the episode in 1950s, some brands, names of actresses and entertainer, and songs of that time are no longer popular, hence requir.c annotation. In addition, ambiguities also pose special problems in transferring them into the target language. As a conclusion 1 could say that appropriate procedure could improve our translation, whereas appropriate techniques, strategies and method could help us in solving our translation problems."

Penelitian ini mengangkat teks sumber buku psikologi populer yang berjudulYou?re not who you think you are. Tesis ini memperlihatkan proses menerjemahkan teksoperatif untuk menghasilkan teks sasaran yang berfungsi sama. Selanjutnya, tesis ini jugamemberikan catatan atas padanan yang diberikan untuk masalah dalam prosesmenerjemahkan yang ditemukan berupa penerjemahan istilah psikologi, Vedanta,metafora, simile, dan idiom. Sebagai teks operatif, teks sumber diterjemahkan denganmenerapkan metode adaptif Reiss, yang artinya penerjemah berorientasi kepada bahasasasaran. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba responden, disimpulkan bahwa tujuan penerjemahantelah berhasil dicapai. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa di dalam teksoperatif juga terdapat teks ekpresif. Selanjutnya, prosedur yang paling tepat untukmemadankan istilah baru adalah prosedur calque.

ABSTRACTAnnotated translation is a study which place a translation as the study object. This studytakes source text which is a popular psychology book tittled You?re not who you think youare. This theses shows translating process of an operative source text into an operativetarget text. Furthermore, it also gives some annotations on the equivalent word given forthe translation problem found such as translation of psychology and Vedanta term,metaphors, simile, and idiom. As an operative text, source text is translated by applyingadaptive method by Reiss, it means that the translator is oriented to target language.Based on the result of the trial on respondents, it is concluded that the translation purposehas been achieved. Furthermore, this study finds an expressive text in an operative text.And finally, it shows that the best procedure to translate a new term is calque."

Semua itu dijelaskan dalam anotasi untuk menjelaskan pilihan padanan atau terjemahan yang dilakukan. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menerjemahkan isilah akunting dengan tepat, penerjcrnah wajib mempertimbangkan perbedaan kelaziman praktik aku.

The aim of this annotated translation is to describe the translator accountability for the translation, namely the choice equivalents, especially relates to the accounting terms, measurement and currency symbol, company label, idiom, punctuation, and register. The source text is technical text and the translation ideology is domestication to ease the reader in comprehending the target text and using it. Survey, interview with resource persons and literature study are conducted for creating a translation which has high legibility. The method of semantic translation was applied to translate the accounting terms and idioms in order that the concepts in accountancy can be translated into target text. Furthermore, the method of communicative translation was used to translate the message which is generally can be accepted and easily understood by the target readers. The technical translation such as transposition, modulation, contextual conditioning, and standard translation are used to overcome the difficulties in finding the equivalence. The conclusion of this research is to translate accounting terms accurately a translator has to consider the difference between the usagerof accounting practices in the culture of source language and target language."

"Tesis ini berisi terjemahan novel The Seed and the Sower ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia serta anotasinya untuk memberi penjelasan padanan yang digunakan dalam menghadapi masalah-masalah penerjemahan terutama dalam unsur kebudayaan Afrika Selatan dan Jepang, serta kesalahan tata bahasa. Novel ini dipilih karena pekat dengan unsur budaya akibat banyak kebudayaan yang terlibat, serta terdapat banyak situasi komunikasi orangasing yang berbahasa Inggris salah akibat latar belakang novelnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan terjemahan yang sesuai dengan skoposnya dan bertanggung jawab terhadap terjemahan itu dengan anotasi yang sesuai. Ada tiga masalah yang dijabarkan dalam penelitian ini: 1 masalah penerjemahan yang dihadapi saat menerjemahkan, 2 teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan, dan 3 ideologi penerjemahan yang dipilih dan pengaruhnya terhadap penerjemahan kata bermuatan budaya dalam TSu. Unit datanya adalah kata dan frasa yang bermuatan budaya. Datadiambil dari bab dua bagian keenam novel The Seed and the Sower. Dalam penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa teknik penerjemahan yang paling banyak muncul adalah teknik amplifikasi. Kesalahan tata bahasa dalam TSu lebih baik diterjemahkan menjadi tata bahasa yang salah juga dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Dari temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan teknik penerjemahan dalam menerjemahkan satu teks dapat berbeda-beda tergantung skoposnya. Ideologi pengasingan juga lebih unggul dalam terjemahan, tetapi pada dasarnya kedua ideologi dapat digunakan bersamaan apabila sesuai dengan tujuan penerjemahan.

This thesis is about the translation of The Seed and the Sower novel from English to Indonesia along with its annotation to give an explanation about the equivalent words used to face translation problems especially in the culture of South Africa and Japanese, and also the grammar mistake made deliberately in the source text. The novel is chosen because it has a lot of cultural elements because a variety of cultures are involved. It also has a lot of communication situations in which foreigners speak broken English grammar due to the storys background situation. The purpose of this research is to make a translation which is true to its skopos and to be responsible to the translation with the proper annotation. The researcher is dealing with three problems in this research: 1 translation problems faced while translating the source text, 2 translation techniques used for the translation, and 3 translation ideology chosen and its effect on translating cultural terms. The unit data are words and phrases which have culturalmeaning. The data are taken from the second chapter and sixth section of the novel. The finding shows that translation technique with most appearance is amplification technique. The broken grammar that appears in the source text is also better to be translated in broken Indonesian grammar. From the finding, it can be concluded that different translation technique can be used to translate a text, depending on the skopos. In addition, foreignisation is the superior ideology for translation, but the two translationideologies can basically used alternately if it suits the translations goal."

Penerjemahan yang melibatkan teks sumber (TSu) yang menghadirkan sejumlah budaya kuat memerlukan upaya dari penerjemah agar tidak terjadi ?penjajahan budaya?. Keterlibatan teks sumber yang menghadirkan sejumlah budaya kuat di dalam penerjemahan ini memerlukan upaya penerjemah untuk menghindari ?penjajahan budaya?. Dalam situasi ini, penerjemah perlu mencondongkan pada lima aspek, (1) pemahaman karakteristik TSu; (2) pemahaman tentang calon pembaca TSa; (3) pemahaman budaya-budaya di dalam TSu dan budaya sasaran; (4) pemahaman makna dalam penyampaian pesan; dan (5) pemahaman bahwa ada perbedaan cara pengungkapan suatu ide pada dua budaya yang berlainan.

The uniqueness of the novel in terms of culture and the desire to introduce the cultural background of the source text become a basic of translation that adheres to the ideology of foreignization, without ignoring the localization of ideology. The localization only used on certain parts to achieve the target text reader comprehension. Translation method used is semantic-communicative methods with the use of various techniques that support the equivalence of meaning and reasonableness shape. The involvement of the source text that presents a strong culture in this translation requires some effort of the translator to avoid the ?culturally imperialistic?.In this situstion, translator needs to be leaned on five aspects of understanding, (1) understanding of the characteristics of source text; (2) understanding of the potential reader of the target text; (3) understanding of the cultures in the source text and the target text; (4) understanding of the meaning in the delivery of the message; and (5) an understanding that there are different ways of expressing an idea in two different cultures.;This thesis presents an annotated translation of the novel The Kaisho. "Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pertanggungjawaban atas terjemahan yang dipilih dalam menerjemahkan sebuah teks, dalam hal ini adalah novel anak. Metode penerjemahan yang digunakan adalah metode semantis, komunikatif, dan idiomatis. Dapat dikatakan bahwa ketiga metode penerjemahan itu merupakan solusi bagi penerjemahan novel anak ini.

The research aims to give annotation for the chosen equivalence in translating children novel. The semantic, communicative and idiomatic methods are applied. Those methods are chosen in order to render source text?s aesthetics as well as message, accepted in the target text. Many problems rise in the translation process are related with cultural differences. In order to address those problems, I deploy several translating procedures. Thus, annotations were conducted at the level of words, phrases, and sentences, by referring to various dictionaries, documents and small-scale survey. In conclusion, it is justified that those methods of translation are the ways to translate A Little Princess into bahasa Indonesia."
