"Disertasi ini membahas medan makna verba bahasa Inggris bidang ekonomi dari sudut pandang semantik leksikal berbasis korpus. Medan makna dalam penelitian ini didasarkan pada relasi sintagmatis atau yang disebut dengan kolokasi dan bertujuan agar dapat mengungkapkan rumpang konseptual medan makna kosakata bidang ekonomi increase, improve, raise, develop, expand, extend, dan enhance bagi penutur Inggris dan penutur bahasa Inggris yang berbahasa ibu bahasa Indonesia. Metode penelitian dalam disertasi ini menggunakan kombinasi ancangan kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan komparatif serta pendekatan linguistik korpus. Sumber data penelitian berasal dari teks digital bidang ekonomi para mahasiswa Inggris (British Academic Written English/ BAWE) dan teks digital mandiri yang berisi artikel-artikel dari jurnal nasional terakreditasi Sinta 2 (Indonesian Economic Written English/ IEWE). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan medan makna yang dibangun oleh makna kolokat verba increase, improve, raise, develop, expand, extend, dan enhance bahasa Inggris yang digunakan oleh penutur bahasa Inggris dan penutur bahasa Indonesia merepresentasikan rumpang-rumpang konseptual yang dimiliki penutur-penutur tersebut.

This dissertation discusses the semantic field of economic English verbs from a study of corpus-based lexical semantics. The semantic field in this research is based on a syntagmatic relation or what is called collocation and aims to reveal the conceptual gaps of the semantic fields of economic field vocabularies increase, improve, raise, develop, expand, extend, and enhance for English speakers and English language speakers whose mother tongue is Indonesian language. The research method in this dissertation uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches with descriptive and comparative methods as well as corpus linguistic approach. The research data sources come from the economic digital texts of British students (British Academic Writing English/ BAWE) and independent digital texts containing articles from the Sinta 2 accredited national journals (Indonesian Economic Writing English/ IEWE). The result of the research showed that the semantic fields differences constructed by the meanings of collocations of English verbs increase, improve, raise, develop, expand, extend, enhance used by English speakers and Indonesian language speakers represent the conceptual gaps possessed by those speakers."

"Di dalam teks berita banyak ditemukan verba dalam makna ‘memberikan informasi’. Verba ini berada dalam medan makna yang sama dan seringkali menimbulkan pengertian yang serupa. Pada penggunaannya di dalam kalimat, variasi verba ini tidak hanya berfungsi untuk memperkaya kosakata dan keindahan diksi saja, namun juga dapat memperlihatkan fungsinya tersendiri di dalam kalimat. Hal ini sejalan dengan pernyataan Chaer (2012) yang mengatakan bahwa pada ujaran atau kata yang bersinonim maknanya tidak akan sama persis. Artinya, masing-masing kata mempunyai peran dan fungsinya sendiri dalam memberikan makna di dalam kalimat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat lebih jauh relasi makna diantara verba yang berada dalam satu medan makna yang sama khususnya verba menyatakan dan mengatakan. Relasi makna yang diamati adalah persamaan dan perbedaan diantara verba-verba tersebut dengan melihat kolokat yang menyertainya. Kolokat yang mendampingi verba dapat memberikan gambaran tentang pola penggunaan suatu verba di dalam kalimat. Penelitian ini melibatkan penggunaan aplikasi berbasis korpus dengan tema ‘Rekonstruksi Pembunuhan Brigadir J oleh Ferdy Sambo’ dan Korpus Leipzig Corpora Collecion News 2020. Hasil akhir menunjukkan dari tiga puluh berita yang terbit, ditemukan empat belas verba dengan pola kolokat yang berbeda-beda. Verba mengatakan dan menyatakan juga dapat dibedakan berdasarkan kolokat dengan kelas kata verba, nomina dan frasa pronomina.

There are many variations of verb in the meaning of 'providing information’ in the news text. The verbs in the same meaning field often creates similar meanings from one to another. In sentences, these variation of verbs not only functioned to enrich the vocabulary and the beauty of dictions but also can show its function in sentences. It’s relevant with the utterances that the words of synonymous are never have the same meaning. It means, each word has its role and function in giving meaning to a sentence. This research was conducted to look further at the relationship of meaning between verbs which are in the same meaning field especially the verbs of mengatakan and menyatakan. The meaning relations which observed are the similarities and differences between these verbs by looking at the collocate that comes after those verbs. This research using a corpus-based application with the theme 'Reconstruction of the Murder of Brigadier J by Ferdy Sambo' and LCC. The final results show that out of thirty published reports, fourteen variations of the verb have different collocate patterns. The verbs of mengatakan and menyatakan can also be differentiated based on the collocation class of verbs, nouns and pronoun phrases."
