Pandemi Covid-19 yang terjadi di Indonesia sejak awal tahun 2020 memberikan dampak yang signifikan bagi komunitas keagamaan seperti gereja. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai bagaimana apropriasi internet oleh jemaat dalam memfasilitasi kegiatan keagamaan di Gereja HKBP Jatiwaringin selama masa pandemi COVID-19 mempengaruhi gambaran mengenai gereja sebagai komunitas praktik. Sebuah komunitas dapat dikatakan sebagai komunitas praktik ketika memiliki tiga karakteristik utama mencakup domain, komunitas, dan praktik. Sebagai komunitas praktik, gereja mengedepankan proses belajar melalui pertukaran informasi antar anggotanya. Sebelum pandemi terjadi, ketiga karakteristik ini ditemukan dalam jemaat gereja HKBP Jatiwaringin melalui kegiatan keagamaan yang mereka lakukan secara tatap muka. Akan tetapi, semasa pandemi jemaat kemudian mengapropriasi internet untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan keagamaan yang mereka lakukan. Oleh karena itu, jemaat di Gereja HKBP Jatiwaringin mengapropriasi teknologi komunikasi khususnya internet, untuk memenuhi kebutuhan spiritual maupun sosial mereka selama masa pandemi. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif penelitian ini menggambarkan bahwa konsep gereja sebagai komunitas praktik kemudian dipertanyakan.

The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred in Indonesia since the beginning of 2020 has had a significant impact on religious communities such as churches. This research discusses how the congregation's appropriation of the internet in facilitating religious activities at the Jatiwaringin HKBP Church during the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the image of the church as a community of practice. A community can be said to be a community of practice when it has three main characteristics including domain, community and practice. As a community of practice, the church promotes the learning process through information exchange between its members. Before the pandemic occurred, these three facts were found in the congregation of the HKBP Jatiwaringin church through their face-to-face religious activities. However, during the pandemic, the congregation then appropriated the internet to facilitate their religious activities. Therefore, the congregation in the Jatiwaringin HKBP Church appropriated communication technology, especially the internet, to meet their spiritual and social needs during the pandemic period. Using a qualitative approach, this research illustrates that the concept of the church as a community of practice is then questioned.
