Pada umumnya, pengolahan sampah organik tersebut menggunakan metode pembakaran akibat tidak dapat terdekomposisi ke tanah. Hasil pembakaran sampah organik tersebut dapat menjadi sebuah energi terbarukan. Besar energi ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar untuk rumah tangga. Adapun kompor biomassa sebagai kompor alternatif pengguna bahan bakar selain gas. Hasil pembakaran kompor biomassa merupakan pembakaran yang bersih karena campuran bahan bakar dan udara yang menghasilkan pembakaran sempurna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan potensi energi terbarukan menggunakan daun. Pembakaran yang terjadi pada daun memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda terhadap intensitas udara dengan bentuk olahan briket. Efisiensi bahan bakar dapat diketahui dengan menggunakan metode water boiling test dan pengukuran mass loss rate. Hasil metode water boiling test dengan olahan briket menunjukkan bahan bakar dapat mendidihkan air pada waktu singkat dan membutuhkan pengisian ulang jika digunakan untuk memasak. Efisiensi termal pada saat masuk pada fase cold start adalah 42 dan hot start pada 46. Bentuk olahan briket menghasilkan pembakaran yang lebih lama namun lebih sukar untuk dinyalakan.

The capital of Indonesia is kept cool and shady by green areas consisting of trees, from residential areas to offices. Fallen leaves produce by these trees contributes to a large amount of organic waste. Generally, the vast majority of the people incinerate these waste as they cannot decomposed quick enough on the ground. The burning of these leaf litters can open up a potential renewable energy. Although the scale of energy than can be use is suited as fuel for household needs. Biomass cooking stoves are developed to accommodate the daily use for cooking as an alternative to gas powered stoves. The flame that is produced by the cooking biomass cooking stove is smokeless due to the great supply of air mixing with the fuel generates a good clean burn.

This research intends to explore and developed the potential of dry leaves form as briquettes as a renewable energy. Burning leaves have different characteristics to the intensity of air going through the combustion chamber with the fuel form of briquettes. The Efficiency of the fuel can be measured using the water boiling test method and mass loss rate.

Results from the water boiling test with the leaf briquettes can bring water to a boil but for standard time of cooking, refuelling in the middle of cooking is needed. The thermal efficiency during the cold phase is 42 and during the hot phase is 46. Although the forming of leaves into briquettes prolong the time of burning and perfect for refuelling, the briquettes are quite hard to ignite.
