ABSTRAKData dari Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS dan Dinas Kesehatan Surakarta
menunjukkan bahwa pada tahun 2015 jumlah total kasus HIV/AIDS mencapai
1.356 kasus, dimana terjadi kenaikan sebanyak 172 kasus dari tahun 2013. Tujuan
penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengalaman ODHA sebagai tenaga
volunteer peer group support ODHA. Desain penelitian menggunakan metode
kualitatif fenomenologi. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan purposive sampling.
Penelitian ini menggunakan 13 partisipan pada Kelompok Dukungan Sebaya
Solo. Hasil penelitian ini menghasilkan 5 (lima ). Tema tersebut adalah penilaian
positif terhadap diri, sumber motivasi volunteer, tantangan menjadi volunteer,
upaya volunteer dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan harapan sebagai
volunteer peer group support ODHA. Kesimpulan : Bekerja sebagai volunteer
mempengaruhi kehidupan ODHA. Perasaan dihargai, diterima dan bermanfaat
bagi sesama dapat meningkatkan kualitas kehidupan ODHA. Diharapkan adanya
pemberdayaan terhadap peer support dalam membantu perawatan ODHA.

group in Solo. Five themes emerge in this study.. The theme are self positive
value, source of motivation volunteer, volunteer challenges, effort to imcrease
quality of life and expectations as volunteer peer group support PLWHA.
Conclusions: Working as a volunteer affect the lives of people living with HIV.
Feeling valued, accepted and useful for others can improve the quality of life of
people living with HIV. Expected for the empowerment of the peer support in
