[ABSTRAKTari Jaipong merupakan fenomena menarik dalam perkembangan seni pertunjukan tari Sunda. Tidak hanya sebagai hiburan atau pertunjukan semata, melainkan juga gagasan estetis yang diusungnya. Bagi Susanne K. Langer, karya seni adalah bentuk ekspresi yang diciptakan bagi persepsi kita lewat indera dan pencitraan, dan yang diekspresikan adalah perasaan manusia. Dalam tari-tarian pokok utama yang diciptakan adalah gesture. Seni sebagai penciptaan bentuk yang menyimbolkan perasaan manusia. Simbol mengekpresikan perasaan, serta ide-ide melalui abstraksi. Dengan kata lain dalam tarian yang diabstraksikan adalah gerak dengan maksud tertentu yang menjadi sebuah ‘gerak virtual’. Dengan demikian, Jaipong hadir sebagai simbol seni yang utuh menghadirkan abstraksi atas konsep perempuan sunda kekinian.
