Tesis ini mengkaji bagaimana strategi bisnis suatu organisasi dapat dijabarkan ke dalam perencanaan sistem informasi sehingga berbagai keunggulan teknologi yang tersedia dapat dieksploitasi untuk meningkatkan kinerja internal perusahaan dan secara ekstemal siap menghadapi tekanan lingkungan bisnis yang terus berubah. Perencanaan sistem informasi difokuskan untuk menciptakan alignment antara strategi sistem informasi dengan strategi bisnis pada suatu perusahaan yang bergerak dalam penyediaan jasa solusi teknologi informasi yang sedang dipersiapkan menghadapi tekanan persaingan global. Proses perencanaan sistem informasi yang dlakukan mengikuti metode Enterprise Architectuire Planning. Metode ini dimulai dengan pengembangan business model untuk menguji faktor ekstemal (opportunity & threat) dan faktor internal (strength & weakness) yang dimiliki perusahaan; dilanjutkan dengan dekomposisi proses-proses bisnis dan entity yang terkait; penilaian sistem dan teknologi yang telah ada; perumusan arsitektur data, aplikasi, dan teknologi; dan diakhiri dengan rekomendasi manajemen sistem untuk efektifitas pengembangan sistem informasi ke masa depan. Dengan tersusunnya rencana sistem informasi maka alokasi sumberdaya dan rencana pembangunan proyek-proyek sistem informasi pada suatu perusahaan dapat dirumuskan secara lebih terarah. Rencana sistem informasi yang dibuat perlu menjadi pedoman bagi fungsi sistem informasi dan menjadi kerangka berpikir bagi manajemen untuk secara efektif mendorong organisasi menjalankan strategi bisnis terpilih guna mencapai visi yang dicita-citakan.

An effective information system is a system that support and enable a company business strategy to work effectively. There are always some key processes within any company that carry out critical business strategies and these processes need to be effectively supported by information system. On the other hand information system also offer opportunity for process innovation which in turn drive the company further to redefine their business vision and strategy in order to win the competition. The synergy between the above business-driven approach and technology-driven approach on information system planning is expected to improve the competitive advantage of the company. The thesis is intended to exercise on how a company business strategy can be translated into information system planning with the objective that various available technology advancement can be exploited to improve the company performance internally as well as to be prepared to deal with changing external business pressures. Case for the study is a company of information technology solution provider industry that is being prepared to enter the global industry competition. The information system planning process undertaken is to follow an Enterprise Architecture Planning method. The method start with development of business model to examine external factors (opportunity & threat) and internal factors (strength & weakness) of the company; to be continued with decomposition of business processes and related entity; assessment of existing system and technology; development of data architecture, application architecture, technology architecture; and finalized with recommendation of system management in order to effectively develop and manage the information system for the future. With the existence of information system plan it is expected that resource for development of the company information system projects can be allocated in right direction. The completed information system planning should become a guideline for information system function as well as to become a framework for management level to effectively drive the organization to implement its business strategy in order to achieve their vision.
