Sebagai salah satu kota pelabuhan penting di pesisir utara Jawa, Cirebon menerima banyak pengaruh kebudayaan dari berbagai Negara. Kondisi ini menjadi faktor penting dalam terciptanya motif batik yang hanya ditemukan di Cirebon, yaitu Mega Mendung dan Wadasan. Motif ini terlihat pada dua keraton di Cirebon, Kasepuhan dan Kanoman. Motif ini terletak di beberapa tempat sakral pada beberapa bagian di keraton. Pengaruh Cina diyakini telah mempengaruhi bentuk dan makna motif tersebut. Skripsi ini menyimpulkan bahwa makna padaTaoisme telah diadopsi melalui kehadiran motif Mega Mendung dan Wadasan di Keraton.

As one of the important coastal cities along the northern part of Java, Cirebon received cultural influence from various countries. This condition became an important factor in the creation of batik motifs exclusively found in Cirebon, Mega Mendung and Wadasan. The motifs appear in two Palaces of Cirebon, Kasepuhan and Kanoman. They are located at some sacred points within the palaces precincts. Chinese influence is believed to have embodied in their forms and meanings. This thesis concludes that Taoism has been adopted through the presence of Mega Mendung and Wadasan in the palaces.
